Ghana Music Won’t Progress Because We As Ghanaians….-OB Amponsah Asserts


The optometrist who doubles as a comedian has taken to his social media timeline to explain why the attempted efforts to resurrect Azonto got stifled.

According to the doctor by day and comedian by night, the issue of the originator of Azonto shouldn’t have been brought up when some musicians decided to resurrect it. To him, what was needed then was unison and common focus towards the successful global penetration of the Azonto genre and dance.

**The agenda to bring Azonto back met its end when Ghanaian musicians started claiming singular ownership of the genre.

In an era where Afrobeat is being owned by all Nigerian musicians, this could have been our breakthrough to the world, especially in these times when social media is prominent.
