Ghana Police: Construction of Formed Police Unit (FPU) and International Relations Offices Underway.

The Minister for Interior, Hon Ambrose Dery has cut the sod for the construction of an ultra modern office complex for the Formed Police Unit (FPU) and the International Relations Directorate of the Ghana Police Service.

The Ghana Police boss – IGP in his welcome address expressed utmost gratitude to the government of Ghana for the improved resources it continues to provide the Police service. He also extended gratitude to external stakeholders and the Police fraternity for their unflinching support.

Rendering the keynote address on behalf of His Excellency the Vice President of Ghana, who is also the Chairman of the Police Council; Honourable Ambrose Dery, Minister for the interior commended Ghana Police Peacekeepers for continuously occupying strategic positions in the peacekeeping environment due to their hardwork and calibre. “Ghana has been among the top ten contributing countries in terms of personnel to peace support operations over the decades and the FPU, based on best practices of the United Nations (UN), the African Union (AU) and ECOWAS has contributed immensely to national and international peace operations” he said.

Government also assured the Service of its commitment of equipping and maintaining the Police Service to deliver its mandate of maintaining law and order and urged the contractors to meet the timeline for the construction to fully benefit the intended purpose.

The ceremony which took place at the FPU headquarters, Tesano – Accra was also well attended by members of the Police Management Board and Police Officers.
