Ghanaian Musicians Must Work On Their Looks

imagesThe music business in Ghana has seen some laudable growth over the past few years with a proportional number of home grown artistes enjoying A – list status in Africa.

This obviously can mainly be attributed to the talent and creativity that abounds in this lively and entertaining place.

Besides all the good things that are happening in the Ghana music arena, one thing that still lacks is the look and feel of artistes especially on stage. The physical presence and originality that is expected to be exhibited by your African performer is usually missing.

Patron Management Group (PMG) was responsible for Hip Life Artistes, Dobble and Rock X’s costume at the Ghana Meets Naija Concert which perhaps put them among a few Ghanaian performers to clad tailored in Ghana cloths on the night. Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were all looking good but they definitely would look better if they wore something African. At least Di’Ja, Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid proved this when they made their first appearances on stage that night clad in well-tailored African designs.

CEO of PMG, Mr. Dickson Tsrakasu believes its high time Ghanaian performers begin to see themselves as tourism ambassadors and dress especially on stage to compliment that.

At least one contemporary Ghanaian musician who is travelling and rapping the world-over always in his African wear is M.anifest. This has obviously gained him massive followership and uniqueness in many unimaginable places across the world.

PMG has serious interest in working with musicians to help cater for their wardrobe. With a cliental base of politicians, diplomats, business men and women, the company is strategically positioning itself to work with the music industry.

In doing this, PMG is already working with Heart of Lions Entertainment to discover fresh music talents. The company also has a subsidiary called Patron Showtime Entertainment which is fully into media production thus making the quest to support the Ghana music industry even easier.

“Patron Showtime Entertainment is co-producing Rock X and Belce with Heart of Lion Entertainment. We are currently talking with JUPITA and his team for some big up-coming music projects in Ghana and beyond”, Mr Tsrakasu told Tigo Music.

The company is also into transportation, farming and health care but it’s clear that there is a new direction to invest into showbiz. “We are currently seeking to invest in to the music business and showbiz as a whole so I have made sure we have the equipment and the personnel”, he added.

But companies like PMG and their CEO’s can only do their best to support the music industry. The music makers and stakeholders themselves need to make a conscious effort to make their music and the industry grow.
