I started wearing beads when I was just two years old. Now I am a full grown woman and I still wear this beautiful evocative African ornament on my waist and so are many Ghanaian women from different tribal background. At a point in time contemporary women, with western knowledge neatly stuck in their faculties, shunned the use of beads. But lately women from all walks of life have embraced the culture and symbolism of waist beads which was passed on from our ancestors.
Waist beads emit several meanings, not only pertaining to the Ghanaian set-up but in Africa as a whole. The most significant thing is to shape or mould the body into a desired preference. Secondly it sexually stimulates the male. In fact my own survey indicates lots of men are turned on instantly at the sight of a well-rounded and protruding butt adorned with beads. It entices them and make us feel irresistible. For this reason, many young women deliberately make their waist beads more visible. Pants are lowered and the flesh is exposed, all in a bid to catch the attention of the target.
In some parts of Africa waist beads take on healing qualities. This is achieved when small stones (it can be semi-precious stones) are added to it. Together with the stones they conjure some sort mysticism which helps solve or heal the wearer in certain situations. And in West Africa women wear waist beads with bells on them and when they walked it make a jingling noise. Amongst the Akans especially Ashantis, waist beads is used as an indicator against obesity.
For many women, beads bolster their confidence, enhance their beauty and balance and define the femininity. Men who are lazy in bed become sexual heroes during sex when their partners wear beads. How? Beads prolong foreplay; the longer the foreplay, the higher your libido. Men play and run their fingers and strike it lovingly as you build the momentum for sex.
If you are reading this article, get one for wife and I guarantee your hitherto boring sex life will improve. And to my fellow ladies, let’s keep wearing beads to have our men always by our side.
