Many Ghanaians have expressed their highest level of dissatisfaction with regards to the purported Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) that is yet to be supposedly incorporated into Ghana’s curriculum. Social media platforms have been flooded with worrying messages from parents and guardians who feel that Dr Prince Armah, through his leadership at the NaCCA base is trying to affix the LGBT rights of the western world countries into Ghana’s education system.
It could be recalled that GES through the Ministry of Education and NaCCA changed the old syllabus into a new Standards Based Curriculum that seeks to propel the Ghanaian child to meet the Global Citizenry Hallmark. This effort according to some worried parents is the same trend the NaCCA boss is willing to use to push the LGBT rights into the education system in Ghana.
During an interview session with Peace FM, Dr Prince Armah vehemently denied all the fears of parents and stressed that high profiled religious leaders such as Catholic Bishops, Imams and other knowledgeable pastors were all consulted before the new curriculum was implemented and nothing of that sort was sighted by these revered men of God. He further assured all listeners and Ghanaians as a whole that the LGBT rights were never suggested to NaCCA and the supposed CSE is not even part of the existing curriculum. He challenged any facilitator who has come across any CSE or LGBT related materials in the Teachers Resource Pack or the curriculum to come out and debunk his claim.
