Ghana’s COVID-19 cases hit 1042, Prez. Akufo Addo lifts lockdown…
President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has just lifted the three-week partial lockdown his administration placed on the Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi districts with effect from 1 am Monday, 20th April 2020.
This is after the country’s Coronavirus case count surged from 834 to 1,042.
President Akufo-Addo announced this during his 7th address to the nation on the outbreak today, Sunday, April 19, 2020 ; 9.00pm
“This does not mean we are letting our guard down,” he said.
According to him, all other measures including social distancing are still to be adhered to.
Meanwhile, suspension of public gathering, however, still stands; including the closure of all educational facilities, ban on churches, funerals, etc..
Per the President’s narration, the total samples tested so far stands at 60, 916 with 1.37 % testing positive.
