GRA to tax clothing allowances effective 1st January, 2020



Sometime ago, we were having a fruitful as buddies until someone passed by with a caption on his car that read, “Your tax, your development!”

A colleague then turned after reading the inscription and said he feels that very soon the air we breathe in will be taxed.

We all laughed over the issue and continued with our conversation.

The above assertion from my buddy is gradually gaining grounds as the Revenue Authority (GRA) through their Deputy Commissioner had on 17th December, 2019 sent a letter to the public of their intention to tax the clothing allowances of bankers soon.

The letter sighted by this website been going round for some days now and people are expressing their opinions from all angles.

Read the letter below;

So, effective 1st January, , members of Ghana Bankers Association will have their clothing allowances taxed.
