H4P Crew holds malaria seminar to mark first anniversary

H4P Crew, group which uses music not only to entertainment but also to create awareness on societal issues, is organising a 3-Day seminar on malaria at the Aviation Social Centre as part of its first anniversary celebrations.

H4P which means Here For Perfection Crew is a gospel music, arts melo-drama group with a vision to impact their world by providing it with an alternative Christian entertainment.

The seminar is in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and it is themed: “Malaria Data Tool and The Revised Anti-Malaria Drug Policy”.

H4P set up a year ago as an NGO with the sole aim of contributing its quota to building Mother Ghana, and Africa by extension.

The group is made up of three ladies and a male – Marilyn Martinson, Florence Kpano, Elorm Asiseh and Henry Tims Ankrah.

The seminar is being organised to afford health personnel and other stakeholders the opportunity to be abreast with the latest developments and trends in the fight against malaria.

The prevalence of malaria has been on a decline over the past decade, but with the current infant mortality rate standing at 900,000 deaths per year, no effort can be spared.

The H4P Crew through this seminar would, together with the health personnel, also explore other innovative measures that can be adopted to make Ghana and Africa a malaria-free environment.

Topics for the seminar which would be taking place from February 21 to February 23 2012 at 9am – 4:30pm includes Uncomplicated Malaria, Severe Malaria and Malaria in Pregnancy.

The first day of the seminar would focus on the training of Malaria Focal persons and Nurses.

The second day would focus on Lab technicians and Pharmacists; whilst the third day of the seminar would focus attention on midwives.

Other activities that have been lined up for the first anniversary celebrations include:

The H4P Crew Orphanage Outreach which involves free medical screening, clean-up campaign, donation of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITNs) and other relevant donations to the orphanage; and a soup kitchen to refresh and entertain inmates.

Mega Anniversary concert dubbed, “The Shidaa Concert” on the April 21 at the National Theatre.

The malaria seminar is proudly supported by uniBank Ghana Ltd, Khomara Printing Press, Privada, and Spinfresh Ghana Ltd.
