‘Hiplifers’ mostly sing like highlife musicians | Panji Anoff

The CEO of Pidgin Music, Panji Anoff  had rubbished the notion that hitmaker Bisa Kdei is a highlife artiste. He in fact stated that the artist is rather a hiplife artist in an interview with MzGee on Joy News. He tried to draw a fine line by insisting current hiplife music is almost like highlife.

“Some people ask me if Bisa kdei is a highlife artiste and I tell them no. To me he is a hiplife musician.

It is just that the hiplife musicians are now using more highlife. To me, Bisa Kdei belongs to the modern category. His attitude, his approach in making music has much more in common with the hiplife musicians than it does with C.K Man or Onyina but the music that he is choosing to express himself owes a lot of highlife.” Panji told MzGee.
