I take money for media interviews – Pat Thomas

imagesThe Ghanaian ‘Golden voice of Africa' legendary Pat Thomas has told Flex newspaper that he doesn't grant interviews to the for free.

According to him, interviews should be paid for. Explaining to this, he said: “You have to pay me after interviewing me, I don't charge an amount to be paid but it must be done. I was interviewed on phone from the United States of for about thirty minutes and they sent me two hundred dollars. It would have been more if I were there to do the interview.”

He added that he can go to a radio station to grant an interview for free but who ever hosts the show should know better to give an amount of for transportation or fuel.

“I live on what I do, that is , so if I do things for free, how can I manage my family?” he asked. When he was asked how much he anticipated to be paid for an interview, he said he doesn't charge but an appreciable amount should be given.

The ECRAG award winner and the ‘Sika Ye Mogya' hit maker has made it patent that, every journalist should be prepared before calling for an interview either on phone or calling him to the studio.

Pat Thomas further noted that in America when they interview an artiste, they give them a token to signify that they have taken something from them and they have also given them what they need.

“I don't do interviews because of this and it's the money but the principle involved. It doesn't show respect doing it for free. Some of the presenters do that but the masses are ignorant about it,” he reiterated.
