I went on my knees for Muntari – Nyantakyi

The president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, in a shocking revelation last Wednesday, stated that he went on his knees to beg former Stars coach, Milovan Rajevac, on behalf of Sulley Muntari to prevent the coach from sacking the player from camp at the 2010 World Cup.

He said the situation occurred twice in that tournament, but what happened in Brazil 2014 when the player physically attacked a member of the Black Stars management team, Moses Armah was shocking and the last straw.

At a post-World Cup press conference, the FA Boss, said he was ready to deal with indiscipline in the Stars team.

Kevin Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari were both sacked from the Black Stars camp for various acts of indiscipline.

However, Mr Nyantakyi confirmed the team had encounted similar problems at previous tournaments but the ability to resolve it amicably prevented it from entering the public domain.

“We have encounted these problems severally but solved it amicably,” he said. “But Sulley and Kevin’s case was different so we had to sanction them,” Mr Nyantakyi added.

Meanwhile, Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, has slammed the doors on Boateng in any future engagement with the Black Stars.

For the 54-year-old trainer, as far as he remained the head coach, the German-born Ghanaian international’s career with the national team was over.

For now Kevin is not in my plans. Appiah said last Wednesday.

The player was reported to have engaged in verbal exchanges with the Ghanaian trainer during one of their training sessions in Brazil and the FA subsequently expelled them from the team.
