International football star ‘Lionel Messi’ sentenced to 21 Months in Jail

Barcelona and Argentine football star Lionel Messi has been found guilty of Tax fraud by a spannish court and subsequently sentenced to 21 months in Jail. His Father was also found guilty of tax evasion to the tune of 4.1 million euros and also received a jail sentence. The Father and son have also been slapped with fines worth millions of euros.

In spannish law however, a jail term not exceeding 2 years can be served under probation and this is probably what is going to prevent the pair from going to jail. The footballer has however denied any knowledge of the crime, that he knew nothing of the management of his finances and that ‘ he was only playing football all along’.
