The people of Achiase in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region have every cause to rejoice, thanks to the charitable gesture by gospel diva Jacqueline Boatemaa Bonsu which has helped boost the heath care for children in the district.
Jacqueline has reaffirmed her commitment to charity work by sponsoring the registration of 200 children in the district onto the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS.
The children, between ages 6 and 15, were selected at random based on the extent of economic challenges faced by them and their families. Most of the children were from the Achiase Roman Catholic (RC) Primary.
According to Jacqueline, the total package for the registration cost about GHC 70, 000 and most of it came from proceeds made from the sales of her album, “Jerusalem”, which became a hit on the Ghanaian music front. She also raised some money from concert performances at churches and other events across the country.
” I just realised thousands of cedis in my previous concert in which I featured artistes like Ohemaa Mercy, Mama Celestine, Kofi Sarpong among others.”
Jacqueline says she is not relenting in her efforts to help the poor and vulnerable in society as she has other charitable projects ahead.
” I am very soon organising a nationwide concert to raise funds to help build a hospital in the Atwima Nwabiagya district and extend it to other parts of the country. I will also raise funds to help register more children on the NHIS”
Jacqueline says she has called on other gospel artistes to help in that direction. She says artistes likely to feature include OJ, Ohemaa Mercy, DSP Kofi Sarpong and many more.
“This is what I am dedicated to doing and aside music, it is my passion to help the vulnerable in society.” she said.
