‘It’s the man who has been disgraced, not kyeiwaa’ – Kyeiwaa’s father

Nana Appiah Kubi father of Kumawood actress Rose Akua Atta Mensah popular known as Kyeiwaa has spoken about his daughter’s alleged marriage to another woman’s husband.

In an exclusive interview with Kwame Adjetia on Neat FM “Entertainment Ghana” this morning, Nana confirmed that indeed he led Kyeiwaa’s family to accept Daniel Osei aka America man’s hand in marriage to Kyeiwaa over the weekend.

Nana has denied reports making rounds in the media that the engagement ceremony is part of an upcoming movie, insisting that his daughter introduced Daniel to him and the two families met for marriage rites.

“Yes! It is true Kyeiwaa is my daughter. On Sunday I went with my family as the head with my nephews, my brothers and sisters and the entire family to attend my daughter’s engagement ceremony. My daughter introduced Daniel to me that he has asked for her hand in my marriage so my family and the man’s family met for the traditional marriage ceremony. It is a real marriage. It is not a movie”.

Nana Appiah Kubi doesn’t however agree with people who think this is a disgrace to Kyeiwaa and her family.

“How does this disgrace Kyeiwaa or her family? How could Kyeiwaa know that the man is someone’s husband and still go ahead to marry him? May be the man hid something from her. So if someone says this is a disgrace to Kyeiwaa I don’t understand. If the man was truthful to my daughter and she still went ahead to marry him, then you can say it is a disgrace. It is the man who didn’t tell my daughter the truth so if there is any disgrace at all, it is the man who has been disgraced not my daughter”.

According to Nana, Kyeiwaa first introduced Daniel to him about a month ago that she has met a man who is interested in marrying her.

“As tradition demands Kyeiwaa came to my house about a month ago to first introduce Daniel to me in the company of a pregnant woman and another gentleman before the engagement was scheduled for Sunday August 30, 2015 and they were even planning a white wedding on a later date after the engagement”.

Asked if he took time to speak to his son-in-law or did any background check on him before the engagement ceremony, Nana said; “Please I didn’t speak to him at all about anything”.

Speaking about allegations that Daniel is married to another woman, Kyeiwaa’s father said he cannot conclude on that until he speaks to both his daughter and his son-in-law.

He said since the news about the man’s involvement with another woman came out, he has tried to reach both of them but they have not responded to his calls.

“I still don’t know whether he is another woman’s husband or not. I have called Daniel several times but he is not answering my calls and I have also called my daughter but her phone has been off. So until I speak to both of them I can’t say my daughter married someone’s husband”.

He also denied media reports that Kyeiwaa’s Family is in crisis meeting “Who told you my family has crisis meeting? Which meeting and where did that meeting take place? I have not been able to speak to both my daughter and my son-in-law so how can we be meeting without speaking to them? We have not had any meeting as a family”.

Asked if he would advise his daughter to quit the marriage he said “I am not calling my daughter to tell her to quit or not. I just want to know the truth of the matter. Most importantly it is my son-in-law that I really want to talk to and asked him if it is true he is married to another woman and why he lied to my daughter”.

He added that if it is indeed true that Daniel is a married man, then his daughter Kyeiwaa would have to decide for herself whether she would still want to be married to Daniel or not.
