Samini

Dancehall artiste Samini is one of the few Ghanaian musicians who have helped nurture other musicians.

Most of the musicians who have been through his school are making it big in the music industry.

The “Iskoki” hitmaker can boast of helping musicians like Stonebwoy, Mugeez, Kaakie, Kofi Kinaata and many others.

Samini on Pluzz FM speaking to Sammy Flex said he has not made a dime out of the musicians he has helped in the past years.

He did not accuse these musicians of ungratefulness but said he does not help others due to the financial benefits. He described his gesture of helping to unearth artistes as a social responsibility he is obliged to undertake as a public figure.

When Sammy Flex asked “not even Kofi Kinaata?” he replied “Kofi Kinaata makes money for himself”.

“Its my social responsibility as a businessman. Growing up as a hustler from Africa and Ghana, people like Mr. Logic know how the story from the days of Ashanti International looked like. Understanding how underground artistes suffer to get into the limelight, when I see a kid trying to come up, I try and cut the journey short for them.

I’ll introduce you to my producers and tell the world about you. I don’t sign them with the realities of making money because of the realities here in Ghana.

I will try and make the artiste look nice, spend small money on the artiste to make him or her look all right. I will also spend money on your videos to look all right. When the people start liking you and start paying money then I stop spending my money on you.

The money that is coming from your performances will go into your bank accounts and we are going to use some for your projects”.
