Japan Branch Of NPP Appeal For Retention Of NPP

Mr Michael Awuah, first Vice Chairman the Japan branch of New Patriotic Party (NPP) has on Ghanaians to retain the NPP in the December 2020 polls to continue with the policies and programmes they initiated.

He said programmes such the “Rearing for Food and Jobs” and the “Planting for Export and Rural Development” had the potential to promote and improve the production of agriculture, which would diversify income of farmers and increase foreign exchange earnings of the country.

He said the construction of the 25,000-hectare irrigation project at Pwalugu, construction and rehabilitation of dams and dugouts to ensure an all-year-round farming was a clear demonstration of NPP's commitment to improving the agricultural sector.

This was contained in a statement signed Mr Kwaku Adu, the Acting Communications Director of the Japan branch of NPP, a copy of which was presented to the Ghana News Agency.

The branch Second Vice Chairman, Mr Jerry Yeboah Agyemang said, NPP's flagship programme “Planting for Food and Jobs” was sustaining and ensuring progress in this important sector.

He said the Nana Addo-Dankwa/ Dr Bawumia led government was able to exhibit their political vision, which benefitted over 600,000 farmers in the first and second years of their administration.

Ms Sheila Yeboah, Chairperson of Kanagawa Chapter of the party commended the government for the introduction of reforms in agriculture, which made farming attractive to the youth of the country.

She said the various interventions made by the government placed the country on the track of achieving the 2003 's Malabo declaration on agriculture.

The declaration forms part of Africa's agenda 2063, where each country is expected to allocate at least 10 per cent of the national budget to agriculture with the aim of achieving a six per cent agricultural growth rate to end hunger.

The NPP Japan branch has scheduled Sunday, 4th May, 2020 as the for its National Congress, which will take place at the Akos Hall, Saitama Prefecture, Tokyo.
