Japan’s first enthronement ceremony in three decades has taken place. A lot of representatives from nearly two hundred countries, including members of many royal families, came in to celebrate Emperor Naruhito’s accession to the esteemed Chrysanthemum Throne.
He somewhat officially started his reign as at the 1st of May. His wife, Masako, has also being officially proclaimed empress.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was in attendance at Japan’s Seiden-Matsu-no-Ma, or the State Room, of the Imperial Palace as he proclaimed, “long live the emperor”.
The ceremony is called “Sokuirei-Seiden-no-gi”.
Dignitaries from across the globe witnessed the ceremony.
On November 10th, the couple will have an official parade to cement their enthronement through the whole country.
Long live the Emperor and the Empress.
