John Mahama shouldn’t have had the “bribe taking” interview with BBC – Stan Dogbe
Former presidential aid to John Mahama, Stan Xoexe Dodge has disclosed that one of the unfortunate things John Mahama did during his presidency was the interview he had with the BBC during one of his trips to the UK.
An interview that featured prominently in the 2016 elections where BBC’s Peter Okwoche, asked him if he had ever taken a bribe before. people thought it would’ve had a yes or no answer rather generated controversies in Ghana.
According to him in an interview with Joy FM, the president was not supposed to have had that particular interview because it was part of the arrangements. He said he was not even aware the president would be speaking to the BBC neither was the then Communications Minister, Dr. Omane Boama aware of it.
“It’s one of the interviews that the President should not have. It’s because he did not go there for an interview. In those moments, I tell you from my experience, the president doesn’t have to say much. A yes or no can damage the narrative you want to put out there” he stated.
