Keche recounts dinner with Liberian President Ellen John Sirleaf

imagesHiplife duo Keche in an exclusive interview relived their one time dinner with Liberian President Ellen John Sirleaf.

Looking back, the duo revealed;

“The song Pressure is evergreen. Any time you drop that tune it feels like it’s new. We were in Ghana and this friend we had called and told us she was going to see her mom and we gave her only ten CDs. She sent them to Liberia and we later had a call from another person saying Pressure was very huge in Liberia.”

“It was Duke Banson of Paradise Entertainment who told us our song was big out there. From day one we wanted to break into Africa and so when we heard the news, we went to Liberia and it was crazy. That song opened way for Sokode, Aluguntugui and the rest to be big in Liberia. And this trickled around to Tanzania and other places. Ghana music gets to places you don’t believe it can reach, we went to Amsterdam and we played for these Latinos who packed the venue and when Sokode came on, their reaction was priceless.”

“When we arrived in Liberia, we received a call from someone thanking us for honoring their invitation and that they had prepared to have dinner with us. That very night we had dinner with the President. It was us, Chantelle and other artists. And we were honored global ambassadors in late 2011 for touching them with our music.”
