Kkd’s alleged rape case adjourned to January 22

imagesAn Accra Magistrates’ Court has adjourned the rape case involving ace broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwa popularly known as KKD to January 22.

Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh Nuamah, who was in court, reported that lawyer for KKD, Anthony Forson told the presiding Judge Adwoa Akyaamaa Ofosu that he will need advice from ACP Atimbila, State Prosecutor regarding how proceedings should go on because a bail application is pending before a Human Rights Court.

ACP Atimbila said he was also waiting for advice from the Attorney General’s office and that it would be improper for him to give advice on what the court should do.

After listening to both sides, the court adjourned the case for two weeks as it awaits the High Court’s ruling on the bail application which has been fixed for January 13.

KKD was picked up for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl in a bathroom at the Africa Regent Hotel on December 27, 2014.

Kwakye Afreh Nuamah reported that the victim was not in court Thursday, but about five of her family members were present at the brief hearing.

According to Afreh, family sources told him that she is very traumatized by the circulation of her name and photographs on social media. Even feeding is a problem, the sources said.

KKD, who wore a blue long sleeve shirt with a cream trousers with a black belt, look frustrated in court.

KKD, who was also limping during his appearance in court Thursday, was not feeling well and reported at the Police Hospital to seek medical treatment after the hearing.
