Gospel music star DSP Kofi Sarpong, who was last month promoted to the rank of Superintendent, will on Sunday, March 25, launch is latest album as well as his Aged Foundation at the Bantama Presbyterian Church in Kumasi.
His latest album, ‘ Agyenkwa ‘, an Akan word which means ‘Saviour’ , is a compilation of soul-touching melodies and a couple of danceable tunes.
His promotion to a higher rank in the police service marks a new development in his life and career as a police officer and a musician.
Following his success in the gospel music scene in Ghana, Superintendent Kofi Sarpong, who has been nominated in two categories, Gospel Song of the Year and Gospel Artiste of the Year for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, hinted that he would sweep the two awards.
The album launch, according to his manager, Ernest Kwasi Ennin, is expected to attract a large number of personalities from some corporate institutions, Christian leaders and fans.
The album, which is a unique mix of neatly arranged lyrics with sensational and inspirational rhythms, has distinctive features in terms of arrangement, beat and style; a new dimension in our current gospel dispensation.
Among the gospel artistes, Kofi Sarpong stands out as an artiste capable of going international with Ghanaian gospel music. He is very good on stage and has charming stagecraft and dancing skills.
Some of the artistes billed to perform alongside Kofi Sarpong include Ernest Opoku, Gifty Osei, Selina Boateng, Jack Alolomi, Joshua Bosheba, Cecilia Marfo and a host of others.
The event, organised by Media Excel Production, a music production and event organisation outfit, will witness historic performances by other selected gospel music icons.
According to the organisers, the album launch in Kumasi is going to be the biggest and will also bring together families, individuals and lovers of gospel to celebrate Superintendent Kofi Sarpong.
