Kwabena kwabena to raise funds for heart patients

imagesKwabena kwabena, one of the greatest musical icons in the country, has stated his passion for saving lives and the impact he wishes to use his musical talent to achieve. He has announced he will be holding yet another musical concert to raise funds for heart patients to undergo free heart surgery at the Cardiothoracic centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).

The fund raising concert dubbed, ‘The Kwabena Kwabena Save a Heart Fund Raising Musical Concert’, to be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at La Palm Beach Hotel, is expected to raise funds to conduct free heart surgeries for 20 people.

Last year, the musical concert generated funds to enable six people undergo free heart surgeries costing an average of $8,000.

Kwabena Kwabena, also known as George Kwabena Adu in private life, used the opportunity to thank the management of the Cardio centre and sponsors who supported last year’s event.

He asserted that although the target of 20 people could not be reached last year, the concert resulted in six patients getting a better quality of life and ‘what we hope will be a normal life expectance.’

Touching on the upcoming event, Kwabena Kwabena said the concert is not all about helping people who are on the waiting list for heart surgery to access surgery but also to highlight the plight of heart patients.

Dr Lawrence Agyemang Sereboe, a Cardiologist and Director of the National Cardiothoracic Centre, expressed his gratitude to Kwabena Kwabena for deciding to use his music to support patients at the centre.

He said the centre has targeted at least 20 patients on the waiting list for three to five years without funds to receive support from the proceeds of the concert.

Dr Sereboe said, “Thank you and the donors for your support and this year we are praying for God to answer our prayers by helping us raise the funds to save more lives.”

Artists like Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Yaw Sarpong and Asomafo, Pat Thomas, Jedu Blay Ambolley, Kalibos, Efya, Samini and Becca are billed to also perform at the concert.
