Kwabena Kwabena wrestles Amakye Dede for Legendary status in Kumasi

Kumasi came to life on Christmas eve as Alpha Vel Consult, organizers of the Legends Party lined up highlife legend Daniel Amakye Dede, Kwabena Kwabena and Kobi Rana to entertain the people of Kumasi. The event which was one of its kind had a massive attendance as there were no major events Kumasi to mark the Christmas after the 2012 presidential elections.

Quiet characteristic of most events organized in Ghana, the event which was billed to commence at 7pm started around 10:30pm with a boring male who was later rescued by sophisticated actress Nana Ama McBrown and DJ & Television host Andy Dosty who dished out energetic party breaks to gear the people up for the main event.

An opening performance from Andy of Mentor 1 fame was enough to set the tone for the event as his performance was followed by versatile Ghanaian performer Kobi Rana who exhibited some nice dance moves and performed his new song which features Dr Cryme.

It was then the moment for Kwabena Kwabena who during 70 minutes of performance got the crowd on their feet dancing and singing along to every bit of his songs performed. Performing songs like “Bibini”, “M3y3″ and some of his old collaborations with , Bradez and Sarkodie, the crowd just like Oliver Twist, could only ask for more. He then ended his show with the 2012 hit track Bye Bye which was originally done with Asem to leave the stage for the headliner for the night, Daniel Amakye Dede.

Followed by spectacular sight that can never be left out, Nana Ama McBrown who was Co- MC for the night took to stage to perform Walaahi (Life), a song originally performed by Tema based group, R2Bees with the life band. After an impressive performance, the crowd then asked her to do a song from Akyeame which made her perform “Mesanba” . With huge applause from the crowd, Nana Ama went ahead to perform another song from Lumba and made way for the headliner for the night, Amakye Dede.

As Amakye Dede never disappoints, he dished out his old time good songs one after the other as a cross section of the crowd joined him to sing at particular points. At a moment, Amakye Dede seemed to be enjoying himself more than the crowd who had gathered.

Asking who could be crowned the entertainer of the night, majority of the people who talked to NY DJ Live indicated they were much impressed with Kwabena Kwabena's performance.

The question then arises, “Did Daniel Amakye Dede lose it on the night or Kwabena Kwabena did his homework well?”
