Lauryn Hill to storm Ghana in December

imagesAce American singer, songwriter, rapper, producer and actress, Lauryn Noelle Hill, will visit Ghana this December to perform at the much- awaited musical event, Afrobeats Big Weekend Festival, which will take place at the Independence Square in Accra.

The three-day festival which would be staged on December 12-14, 2014 is being put together by BBnZ with Accra Breweries Limited (ABL) as the official beverage sponsors of the Afrobeats Big Weekend Festival 2014.

BBnZ last year December thrilled Ghanaians to the highly impressive maiden edition of the festival that shook the foundations of the Independence Square.

Promising a re-enactment of the flair and quality that came with their first event, the organisers are stopping at nothing to ensure that they deliver a one-of-its-kind music festival come December.

Lauryn Hill would headline and share the stage together with Ghanaian home-grown talents and Nigerian artistes who would ensure back-to-back performances.

Lauryn Hill, who has won a number of awards in 1998, became the first woman or hip-hop artiste to win five Grammy Awards, Album of the Year, Best New Artiste, Best Female R&B Performer, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album.

BEATWAVES has gathered that on the Friday, December 12, there would be a hip-hop themed concert, followed by an actual Afrobeats party on Saturday, December 13, and on Sunday, December 14, a mellowed-down acoustic event would take place.

Sunday’s acoustic set would be headlined by none other than the incomparable Ms Lauryn Hill.

The maiden edition of the concert which was held in December last year witnessed historic performances from the likes of Samini, Shatta Wale, Efya, Okyeame Kwame, E.L, Stonebwoy, Joey B, C-Real, Kaakie, Nigeria’s very own, Ice Prince, among others.

The maiden edition turned the entire Accra metropolis upside-down with an ecstatic crowd made up of over 60,000 Ghanaian music fans from all walks of life including students from Ghanaian second cycle and tertiary institutions.

The three-day Afrobeats festival was an all night affair which provided non-stop entertainment till the break of dawn.
