Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, also known as the Grand Mufti, is the Republic of Ghana’s first chief Imam who has held the position since 1993. To mark his 100th birthday, Myjoyonline compiled a list profiling the chief Imam’s life.

Established seven Islamic schools including the Answaru-Deen Islamic School Complex in the Greater Accra region

Self-sponsored hundreds of students to study abroad

Established the Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu Education Trust Fund 

Created the Islamic Peace and Security Council of Ghana, an of an organisation that promotes peace, unity and sustainable peace in Ghana 

Founded the Nuuru Usmaniya Foundation for Humanitarian Services and Development

Engineered the development of the ongoing construction of the National Mosque at Kawo Kudi, Kanda, Accra.
