Lord Kenya pleads for kwaw kese

imagesFormer hiplife star, Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo Kenya, popularly known as Lord Kenya, has urged authorities to temper justice with mercy in the case involving rapper Kwaw Kese.

Controversial rapper, Kwaw Kese, who was arrested by the police in Kumasi on Saturday, November 22, for allegedly smoking cannabis in public, was remanded into prison after making an appearance in court Monday, November 24

The court, presided over by Judge William Boampong remanded him at the Kumasi Central Prison to reappear on December 8 after prosecutors argued that they were still investigating the matter.

Lord Kenya, now Evangelist Lord Kenya while agreeing that the law must take its course, urged authorities to apply a human face to their decisions and treatments.

He made the plea while commenting on the prevalence of illicit drugs in the Ghanaian entertainment industry on Rhythmz A-Z on Joy FM with Mamavi Owusu Aboagye Saturday.

The ‘Sika Baa’ hit singer, who said he was introduced to the recreational drugs by a friend and became addicted to the illegal substance for 13 years said he wasn’t in Kumasi when Kwaw Kese was arrested but promised to visit him Monday.

Lord Kenya revealed that: “I sat down with the prosecutors, we’ve spoken at length. I wanted them to know that…the brother was wrong but as much as we all know he was wrong, we don’t have to push him that much.”

The evangelist noted that while his interest is for Kwaw Kese, born Emmanuel Botchway, to be granted bail, he must seek the face of God in this trying times.

“[A] man can do all that we have to do but Kwaw in his own right has to see himself standing in the presence of God, the one who gave him the gift. It’s not because of the fans out there because the fans [will] not judge” but God will.

Lord Kenya celebrated his fourth anniversary in ministering the word of God in October this year with the inmates of the Kumasi Central Prison.

It was his hope that although the arrest is unfortunate, Kwaw Kese will at the end of the day see that Jesus loves him: “I pray that one day maybe through this he [will] get back to himself and realize that Jesus loves him more than anybody else can love him.”
