Entertainment critic and artist manager, Mel Kwesi Davies talks about what managers do for their artists. Furthermore, he admits that many artist managers take their artist to see a spiritualist.
According to Davies, many artists believe that those sort of things work for them. Therefore as a manager, you have to go with them to do what they believe works for them in order to bring out their best.
He made these statements on Kasapa Fm. Moreover, he recalled how he once went with one of his artists to a spiritualist for a bath. This is because the artist believed that it would work for his career.
Mel Davies talks about managers and artistes seeking spiritual backing
“I had to travel with my artiste to Brong Ahafo for spiritual fortification by a spiritualist, something my artistes believed in so much so I couldn’t let him down but to go with him on the journey.”
“We sometimes sacrifice to the extent of visiting Fetish priests and other spiritualists just to have a successful career for our artistes.”
Moreover, he added that managing an artist is one of the most difficult jobs on mother earth. It requires constant sacrifice on the part of the manager. Sometimes, these sacrifices are not seen or appreciated.
“Artiste management is a difficult work. I’ve seen an artiste manager who sacrificed everything including his own family but he never gave up till the artiste became very successful.”
