Mega Screening For “The Pledge”

Hundreds of movie fans trooped to the Silverbird Cinema on Friday night to watch what is described as Ghana’s peace movie titled, The Pledge, ahead of the general elections on December 7.

The movie, produced by Musah Al-Hassan Toure, was directed by Cosby Bikpe under Dream Pictures label, with special support from the Ghana Armed Forces.

It has an interesting story line which in general entreats politicians and political stakeholders to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections at all times. Movie enthusiasts at the premiere cheered during some scenes of the new movie.

The movie basically is a fictional presentation of political happenings in Ghana before the untimely demise of former president, John Evans Atta Mills.

It tells the story of how former presidents, Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufour, Atta Mills and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo Addo embarked on a fun trip without their aides to, among other things, discuss issues affecting the nation and also settle their differences.

During the journey, they became stranded in a remote area where the indigenes failed to recognize them because they only listened to them on radio.

In the process, they were kidnapped and the security forces were compelled to save the presidents and Nana Akufo Addo. Popular actor, Fred Amugi played Atta Mills and Edward Agyekum Kufour played the role of his dad, ex-president John Kufour.

The actors performed creditably by imitating Rawlings and Nana Addo.
Stars such as Roselyn Ngissah, Khareema Aguiar, Fred Amugi, Amanda Jissih, Adjetey Anang among others, attended the premiere.
