The new product allows subscribers of MTN to sing and record their own voice, and get rated based on their singing performance.
It is seen as an opportunity for owners and users of phones and other devices to tap into the vast potential of their handheld devices, while bringing the production of music to handheld devices.
MTN subscribers who already subscribe to MTN Radio service will not be charged to be a part of Music Scorer.
However, new subscribers of the MTN Radio Music Scorer service who are not already using MTN Radio will be charged a token for the service.
Speaking on the innovation, Noel Ganson, Ag. Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, said “Music Scorer provides the platform for everyone to showcase their musical talent. Smartphones have changed the way we do a lot of things and it is definitely changing the way audio or music is recorded. With MTN Radio Music Scorer service all you have to do is think about this song you’ve been yearning to record, get onto Music Scorer and record that beautiful song”. The recorded song can immediately be assessed by thousands of other music lovers on the Music Scorer platform.
The Business Manager for Spice Africa Ltd., Samuel Kofi Blay said “Music Scorer gives an opportunity to individuals who are shy on stage or on camera to still do what they are capable of doing best.”
He reiterated the fact that Music Scorer has been developed to provide quality entertainment to the youth and music lovers at large.
The service is available to subscribers with daily, weekly or monthly subscription options.
New and existing users can access MTN Music scorer by dialling MTN Radio short code 1303 and choose option 2, however those who want to bypass MTN radio and use Music scorer directly can dial 130330 to enjoy it. All you have to do is press * while music is playing and sing in your own voice and then press 5 to listen to the song recorded and also get rated immediately. The minimum time for recording is 16 seconds. Users can record as many songs as they want in a day.
The Music Scorer comes to complement MTN Radio which is very popular amongst the youth and currently has over one million subscribers.
