Music Stakeholders Not Happy With GHAMRO

imagesA cross section of music stakeholders in Ghana is unhappy with the new board of Ghana Music Right Organisation (GHAMRO) over royalty distribution, BEATWAVES has discovered.

According to BEATWAVES’ investigations, the music stakeholders are unhappy because the GHAMRO board is distributing royalties to members without disclosing the total amount received from the blank levy and monies collected from various music users.

They pointed out that they indeed have every legal right to know the total amount of money collected on their behalf by GHAMRO, adding that the criteria used in the distribution of royalties should also be made public for the benefit of all the stakeholders.

In separate interviews, the music stakeholders have accused the new board, led by Kojo Antwi, of repeating the very mistakes that saw the exit of the previous board.

Gyedu Blay-Ambolley has charged the new board to be more transparent in dealing with the stakeholders, pointing out that Kojo Antwi should come clean with the exact money in GHAMRO’s coffers and account on every among spent so far.
