MUSIGA Leaders Resign

Not long after the a mass resignation of MUSIGA leaders and members in the Central Region, the Union’s Brong Ahafo Regional Secretary, Israel Boakye, has also submitted his resignation letter citing his disappointment in the current national leadership of the Union.

Dear General Secretary,

LETTER OF RESIGNATION
I have enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to work for the Union for the past years. As you know, although I do not receive any salary or monthly allowance I love my position and always do the best to ensure that I always deliver the best possible results for the union.

According to the aims and objectives of the Union, the Union must seek “to protect the creative and performing rights of all Musicians in the country, and to cater for the welfare of the retired Musicians.”

But to me it seems all MUSIGA programmes and activities are centered in Greater Accra which is not the only region in Ghana as a country.
Moreover, it is sad and disgracing that, unpopular musicians do not get any benefit from the union, not talking of the musicians at the remote areas. I have also been in my position as a regional secretary and national executive council (NEC) member for the past one year and I have never heard of any donation to any retired musician.

I feel much distressed and disappointed and I wish to resign from my current position as Brong Ahafo regional secretary for MUSIGA effective from now, and find another association that would see my worth and value as a member.

Although I have a negative feeling towards these, I extend my best wishes to all my colleagues which I have treated as my second family.
