Even before the artiste to be honoured this year is revealed by Imajin Advertising, followers of the music scene have started guessing which young performers would be selected to render some of the chosen artiste’s songs.
Two of the names that keep recurring are dancehall acts, MzVee and Shatta Wale. They command a fair amount of attention these days and it would be interesting to see how they re-work songs by whoever would be honoured this year.
Though the organisers, Imajin, is yet to make any official comments on what is in store for this year, information is rife in music business circles that there will definitely be another bash this year.
Meanwhile, names being dropped by the public as likely to be honoured at LALA Ball 2014 include Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas, Nana Ampadu, Jewel Ackah, Paapa Yankson and George Darko.
The LAL Ball series was started in 2011 where Daddy Lumba was honoured. It was followed in 2012 with honour for Amakye Dede and it was AB Crentsil’s turn last year.
