Naomi Campbell: I’m No Supermodel

She recently headlined a Duran Duran music video and still gets booked to walk the most coveted runways, but Naomi Campbell says there’s nothing ‘super’ about her storied career.

“I would never call myself that,” she says of the term ‘supermodel’ in the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar. “I don’t have any superhuman powers.”

To that end, the 41-year-old works hard to maintain her famous figure. “For me, carbs are a treat now,” she says, admitting to doing “everything I can to keep my skin elasticated.” (While speaking with Oprah Winfrey in 2010 she confessed to going on 18-day cleanses and jumping rope to keep her face lean.)

“I still love what I do,” she explains, but instead of ‘supermodel,’ she’s drawn to terms including “transformation, reinvention, and chameleon,” buzz words which demonstrate a marked departure from her mantra in the late ’90′s. “I never diet. I smoke. I drink now and then. I never work out. I work very hard and I am worth every cent,” she infamously told Playboy in 1999.
