National Tourism Awards Launched

2013 National Tourism Awards which was instituted to reward excellence and professionalism in the Ghanaian tourism industry as a step to consolidate the country’s position as an emerging tourism destination in Africa has been launched.

The event which was launched by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, was held at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra.

The purpose of the awards is to reward excellent performances in the tourism sector, to encourage competition among the industry players, to build relationships amongst the stakeholders, as well as provide a solid platform for sponsorship and for stakeholders to drive their brand.

In her address, the minister noted that her outfit has endorsed the awards because it ultimately seeks to promote quality services on the Ghanaian tourism landscape and strengthen the country’s image as a competitive tourism destination.

She stressed that the awards would provide a platform to recognize stakeholders who have contributed to the growth and development of tourism industry in Ghana.

She however urged all the stakeholders and partners to generously support the Ghana Tourism Authority to successfully organise the event which would be held in December this year at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.
