The Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah has shown enthusiasm in the success of the Ghana Card registration after his outfit reportedly registered close to 3 million Ghanaians.
The exercise was originally scrutinized with political lenses by the main opposition party (NDC). They accused the President of an attempt to take the citizenship of some Ghanaians who are envisaged to be living in and around the supposed “world bank” areas of the political party. But after various deliberations and consultations, the party agreed to take part in the exercise.
The NIA rolled a number of strategic plans in registering Ghanaians. One of such strategies is the gradual registrations from selected regions to others.
