Exactly, 41 years ago today, 4TH AUGUST 1974, Ghana changed from driving on the LEFT to RIGHT. I have forgotten the day of the week exactly but, prior to that, the OSOFO DADZIE group were made to do a lot of promotional, educational and stage a lot of performances to create the awareness.
In my hometown,Agogo Ashanti Akim then, there were only 5 television sets i could count. The Presbyterian hospital canteen,DC Badu’s house,First store, the Principal of the Training College and the Matron of the hospital .It was a monochrome TV set usually called the BLACK AND WHITE.
Before you could probably have the chance to watch the OSOFO DADZIE show on TV on a Sunday, one has to fetch a drum full of water to any of the owners of the TV sets before you had access to watch through a viewfinder on their windows. We also had the INFORMATION SERVICES VAN showing us the documentary of this important landmark transformation in our country’s history. General Erskine was then in charge of the Transport ministry. Oh how time flies!!!
41 years down the lane, there has been a monumental change in my town with a lot of tertiary schools, businesses, infrastructure etc. Times have really changed. GHANA GOES RIGHT.
NIFA NIFA. NAAYEN!! ABENKUM ABENKUM, YAA GYAE!!
The land that time forgets.
Reminiscing the past from my cottage,POKUASE.
