It is very unusual to have anything free in this world without even an iota of levy to cushion yourself somewhere.
A close observer of the government’s free SHS policy hinted his worries to the ‘ghanashowbiz’ team recently. When this noble website decided to do a rough survey about the concerns raised, some concerned parents readily offered themselves as case studies. These concerned parents made their anxiety and fears really known in plain words. They told our close sources that the free SHS registration is too cumbersome and demanding since a lot of parents have left their work places just to be in long queues to register their wards. They further complained that some learners were posted very far from home but given “Day” status as their accommodation choice. Also, they were concerned that some friends and families are complaining of their wards’ inability to be placed in any school, even though they did exceedingly well in the B.E.C.E.
Well, nothing is ever known to have come through an easy means so this free SHS is no exception and not as smooth as we are made to believe.
Some equipments and materials for students in Boarding facilities are very costly and a drain in the pockets of parents.
Posterity will be the judge of this policy…
