Okraku-Mantey drops case against Sarkodie

Slip Music boss, Mark Okraku-Mantey has officially dropped an intended legal action against Sarkodie for recording a rendition of Daasebre Gyamenah’s ‘Kokoko’ without permission.

Okraku-Mantey who is the Executive Producer of the original version of the song was not happy after hearing Sarkodie’s rendition meant to be a tribute to the late Daasbre Gyamenah.

“I was in charge of the entire production of the song. I produced the song with Zapp Mallet and Daasebre just provided the lyrics,” he said on Hitz FM.

“I heard the song courtesy of Jon Germain who sent it to me and I think it’s an honour to Daasebre. I am not impressed with the song and I do not know the inspiration behind the making of the song.

“For all you know, I do not want my song to be associated with certain elements like funeral, alcohol and what have you,” he added.

The issue generated a debate in the showbiz circles but Okraku-Mantey speaking on Hitz FM, Monday, said his earlier decision is on hold as Sarkodie and his management have reached out to him.

“Sarkodie’s lawyers called me over the weekend. Sarkodie himself called me. We’ve spoken,” he said.

Asked if that meant he has dropped the case, Okraku-Mantey responded in the affirmative.

“Yes… We have a meeting within the week and we will discuss further. Whatever happens, I’m sure we will all know,” he noted.
