Okyeame Kwame Goes Digital With “The Clinic”

One of Ghana’s optimum extraordinaire rapper and the MTN icon Okyeame Kwame is yet to release his latest album called “The Clinic”. In wake of the world migrating digitally, he questions the mode of distribution of music in Ghana and ask other musicians and the music lovers to digitally migrate.

In a press conference held at the African regent hotel last Thursday, he posits that digital music distribution is about moving distribution of music from the traditional physical CD distribution to a digital platform so that persons with smartphone can download for a fee and enjoy whiles musicians make money from these downloads.

With current proliferation of computers, smart phones and other digital gadgets to a large extent has truncated the purchase of cassettes and CDs worldwide but in other part of the world, music
distribution has taken another trend. The distribution is done digitally, where one can download songs at a fee from every corner. This makes accessibility of songs very easier and fast.

The MTN Icon asserts that one can access his latest music by dialing the MTN short code 1303 and follow the voice prompt with which the caller will be charged 95p .

However, the Rap Doctor maintained, ‘I do not mean to say that my works could no longer be accessed through the aforementioned triangular system. I am rather adding to the existing to ensure that lots of music enthusiasts and my fans in the country get easy access to my music or songs wherever they find themselves in the country.’

The theme of the album is called the Mr.Versatile, when asked why mr. versatile, he asserts that this album contains all genres of music from Azonto to Calypso and this shows how versatile OK can be.

Kwame’s ‘The Clinic’ album is a masterpiece of 15 songs including ‘Faithful’ which has so far proven to be the favourite of many music lovers in Ghana and abroad. It was produced by Zapp
Mallet, Appietus, Jay-Q, Richie, Kaywa, Morris D’Voice, Oteng and Victor Dey among others.

The album also features sensational songstresses Efya, Irene Logan, Bertha, Raquel, Vera as well as Kese of Project Fame, Edwin of Soul Black and others.
