Okyeame Kwame launches album on M- Radio

Okyeame Kwame has launched his latest album The Clinic on M-Radio.

M-Radio is an initiative by telecommunication giant MTN that allows its customers to listen, download or dedicate selected songs to their love ones by calling 1303.

Explaining why he chose to launch his album on M- Radio contrary to the normal music launch where people are invited to witness and purchase first copies of the album at an exorbitant price, Okyeame Kwame said that the new innovation will give his fans easy access to his songs.

“Gone were the days when music enthusiasts had to struggle before they had access to one’s song but in a technological era like this where mobile phones are common, an innovation like M- radio is instrumental to allow my lovers to either listen, download or dedicate my songs to their love ones at a cheaper cost without going through a lot of stress” he said.
Okyeame Kwame said that ten out of the twelve songs on his album are on the M- Radio.

Originally known as Kwame Nsiah Appau, Okyeame Kwame said non-MTN subscribers can also have access to his songs by simply dialing 1303 from all networks.

The Spokesperson for the Musicians Union of Ghana stated that his fans can log on to www.mtn play to listen to the song.

He continued that twenty percent of the proceeds of the songs will be invested into his Hepatitis B foundation, to help victims of the disease and to organise free screening for them.

“I plan to organize a free screening for over one thousand two hundred residents of Tamale at the Tamale Market in the Northern region” he emphasized.

The Innovations Manager for MTN Nana Osei Afrifa said apart from Okyeame Kwame, artistes like Tic Tac, Stay Jay, Buk Bak and K. K. Fosu among others have signed onto the M- radio project.

He explained that listening to songs alone on M- Radio will cost GHp 1 per minute while downloading costs GHp 90 and dedicating a song is charged GHp 30.

“From now till the end of February which is the month of love, one can dedicate a song for free”, the Innovations Manager explains.

He said that measures have been put in place to ensure that musicians are paid their dividends at the end of the month.
