Organizer May Have Gone Broke After “Back In The Day” Concert

On the 21st of September, 2012, the night Empire Entertainment won’t forget when they held the ‘Back in the Day’ Concert at the Dome, Accra International Conference Center.

The head sponsor was rlg communications and powered by themselves and Media GH. Starting time was supposed to be by 7pm sharp but trust Africans and don’t let us get into the details of that today.

The organization was perfect; as a matter of fact there were more than acceptable human resources standing in one corner or the other trying to help wearing rlg tops. The performers were very good, those in attendance responded to every sound and rhythm; we had an issue with the outcome, and thus, we cannot call those in attendance ‘crowd’ because the empty seats were more than those in attendance.

That was the sad part of the event, not the organization, not the security, not the performers but the people who were made to witness the event. Now organizing such event cost a lot of money, and it is expected that at least the sale of tickets will generate substantial amount to recoup investment. It will even be more drastic if a micro financial company invested in the event because considering the track record of Empire Entertainment, a financial institution will venture considering it a low risk game.

Many people we spoke to, attributed the low attendance to poor publicity of the event, but Empire Entertainment knows better and has been in the system for long with a track record of performance. Others feel the program was rushed, that there was no adequate time to plan.

We cannot really ascertain what could have made people to turn away from such packaging, because as far as our eyes saw clearly that very night, it was a show that, you will forever regret not being part but truthfully, “the thing touch knock the organizer’s pocket sadly”, as one taxi driver coined it due to the fact that the AICC went ‘dead’ silent compared to the normal nights when events of such magnitude are staged.

Anyway life is not always the way we predict it and not always the case that we are successful. As much as it is the passion of Kwabena Adisi aka Bola Ray and his team to organize top rated events, it is also a time to make some cash.

There must be lessons to learn from the outcome in preparation for subsequent events. Do not rush and create more publicity. The event has come and gone, yet in future when we look at the concert, ‘Back in the Days’ we will always remember that Empire Entertainment lost some money because of factors within and beyond his control.

Hope we take this in good fate and understand that life is all about win and lose, and in that vein, we wish the team better luck with their forthcoming event.
