Our reflexes might lead us to make wrong choices but… – Sarkodie

Winner of the ‘Artiste of the Decade’ at the recent Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA), , has advised his fellow musicians to control their emotions regardless of the provocation.

The rapper in a tweet stated although emotions can be difficult to rein in, acting on reflexes can lead one into making wrong decisions or choices.

He wrote, “With an industry dominated by men, egos will always be up but again as men we need to control our emotions (very hard to do) but it’s a must. Our reflexes might lead us to make wrong choices and we definitely have to work on em.”

His comments come after a fight that broke out on stage between the camps of dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale marred the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

The pandemonium broke out shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’.

Shatta Wale and his fans were seen walking towards the stage, his intentions unclear. The brawl that erupted between the two camps had people rushing outside to protect themselves.

Stonebwoy was seen pulling a gun on stage to which he said it was to defend himself because he felt threatened.

According to Sarkodie, regardless of how angry an artiste can make another, they should not let that blind them on how good they all are.

“My brother SHATTA-WALE can get me mad ( cos I’m human ) and I have every right to… same as him but I will never ever Let that take away how dope this brother is in my eyes … and he knows that for sure!”

Sarkodie added beef songs are part of the art because they push artistes to do better.

However, the rapper said they are not always necessary as there is a bigger picture for artistes to focus on.

He revealed Ghanaian music is doing great in the international scene and all musicians play a part in selling the country.

“You don’t need to like me I don’t either but we can’t miss the bigger picture,” Sarkodie stated.
