Over 14,000 teachers haven’t been paid – NAGRAT posits

The President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Mr. Eric Angel Carbonu has revealed the payment of teachers’ salaries and arrears still remains a challenge as over 14,000 teachers have not received their salaries.

The President of the Association made this known in an interview with Samuel Eshun on the ‘Happy Morning Show’ Happy 98.9 FM. He said;

“What is baffling is that over fourteen thousand (14,000) teachers for the past three months have not been paid. They said there is some audit service for validation and audit service has given the names to the Ghana Education Service.

Those teachers have not been paid their salaries. They are active and working in the school. So why should audit service take their monies?”.

According to him, some politicians are announcing that teachers have been paid which is contrary to the reality on the ground.

He further advised that the government must critically assess the issue of salaries and arrears and payment of teachers with the appropriate teacher unions.
