Packaged Electronic Begging: The Impudence Of Social Media Beggars.
In 2020, only a few people are seen confidently holding bowls and cups soliciting for alms along the roadside in most African countries. Even though most of these roadside ‘beggars’ are physically challenged, some also fake their disability for easy cash.
Because of the influence of social media now, some able bodied but lazy people have upgraded their shameful begging spree from the roadside unto the information superhighways. Such peeps jokingly demand for funds from celebrities, friends and other group members after they’ve slid into the inboxes of their unsuspecting victims. The jovial stance is a very strategic way out in case they are refused! As soon as you refuse them, they’ll go like they were joking, teasing or testing you but as soon as you offer to help them — they grab it with all their available strengths!
Reacting to this, a renowned publicist who’s fed with this phenomenon has called out those engaged in this menace. The blogger cum vlogger made all the points clear via a Facebook post.
Blogger Bianze asserted;
***I get that things are hard for a lot of people. But the guts of inbox beggars these days can’t go unnoticed.
One begged me for money and I told her that I didn’t have any money for her. She came into my posts to harass me for refusing to give her money.
I deleted her comment and blocked her.
Another one told me that I have money to buy human hair but I claim I don’t have money to help her.
Yes dears… 99% of people I know on Facebook Nigeria are STRANGERS to me. Acquiring my human hair wigs to make myself happy is a million times more important to me than giving money to beggars who would happily jump at the next attack post against me. I’m not exactly stupid. I just love myself more than I love anyone else on earth.
Same reason why the world’s richest, including your Daddy GOs are buying mansions and private jets in a world where people are dying of starvation, including some church members of those daddy GOs who are buying private jets.

STOP coming inbox to beg me for money. I don’t have enough to become that philanthropic. If you come inbox to ask me for money, the answer will be NO!
Unlike a lot of people, I’m NOT one of those people who have difficulty saying no. I will simply tell you no.
We all have our issues. That I’m not posting mine on my wall doesn’t mean you should dump yours on me.
I’m living for MYSELF.
I’m proudly SELFISH.
I give at my convenience.
Stop insulting people for refusing to dash you money. No one owes you money. Rid yourself off that stinking sense of entitlement.
You go into strangers’ inboxes to ask for money and make other requests and you think they don’t have the right to say no?
Do you think me or other people wake up every day to go to work for you?
I want to make it clear again: STOP ASKING ME FOR MONEY! If you ask, the answer will be NO! If you persist, I’ll block you.
Stop harassing people with your financial and other problems.
Some of you have turned this begging thing into your con businesses. You fabricate false stories and send it to several people’s inboxes. You need to stop.

A person soliciting for alms on social media whether rich or poor is still a social media beggar but how do we differentiate the real good cause from the bad nuts ? Some come in the form of soliciting for funds for medical purposes which might actually turn out to be true and others are just pure scams but what is that thing that pokes you to believe the person begging you for money ? After all some are your Facebook “friends” and therefore you feel obligated to sometimes give out what you might have at the moment but the truth is you don’t owe anyone anything and you need not feel obligated to give out money when a social media beggar approaches you . You have the right to say NO and it is no crime but if you feel you are so generous and want to help anyone that comes your way even when you know the story is bull story then it is ok after all it is your money. Social media beggars are here to stay, the decision is yours to make when they approach you
