Papa Sly Pockets US$5,000 From Asamoah Gyan Mother’s Funeral

The Black Star captain lost his mother in 2012 in a car accident in Accra and the funeral rites took place last Saturday 16th March 2013 with a lot of dignitaries in attendance. The ambiance was a perfect one and the entire atmosphere was at agog all for a peaceful day.

We hear that Papa Sly had charged an undisclosed amount but eventually settled for the US$5,000 for his mastering of ceremony duty on that day. “I was just doing my job and also helping to give the mother of my friend a befitting burial…it’s not really about the money at all”, Papa Sly said in a phone interview.

Such scenario may somewhat fit for the popular adage, one man’s sorrow is another man’s joy; no one could imagine that the death of Baby Jet’s mother was to create the opportunity for another man to make quick cash when tears were running.

Going down memory lane, it’s no doubt that Papa Sly is a good presenter cum MC, and has the enviable ability to make you feel his presence and also enjoy his company wherever he finds himself which we think he did at last Saturday at the ‘mother of his friend’s’ funeral. But for US$5,000 for funeral?
