The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) on Friday held a grand ball at the StateBanquet Hall, where both old and new artistes came together to perform on one stage and thrill patrons all in support of Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) and the MUSIGA Academy. The old skull posse featured highlife stalwarts, Amakye Dede, AB Crentsil and Paapa Yankson,Nana Kwame Ampadu and gospel duo, Tagoe Sisters among others. And from the new bloc were Kwabena Kwabena, Nacy and Noble Nketiah and others . There was also stand-up comedy from KSM and DKB.
The ceremony which was attended mainly by captains of industry and statesmen also saw several items being auctioned towards the cause. The 60 year old guitar of the legendary Dr Koo Nimo was pciked up by the CEO of Eurostar Tours, Oscar Doe for ghc 15000. The CEO of Special Ice Water, Ernest Ofori Sarpong picked up a special CD compilation of Nana Kwame Ampadu’s music for ghc 20,000.
Several individuals and companies, including former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Dr Osei Kwame Despite, Midlands Loans and Savings and others were given special honours for their contributions and support for music and arts in Ghana.
