Police arrest shoe maker for kidnap, extortion and defilement

A 26-year-old second-hand shoe dealer is in police custody for kidnapping and continually defiling a 13-year-old girl for some days.

The culprit, Richard Nti also demanded and negotiated a GH¢15,000 ransom from the parents of the victim before her release.

Per investigations by police, the teenage girl’s parents tipped their outfit of what they suspected to be kidnapping of their daughter at about 7:00pm on Monday, July 20, 2020.

The embattled man, Mr. Richard Nti is said to have coerced his victim into a waiting taxi towards the Kwabre township of Dumanafo, about 20 kilometers from Bantama in Kumasi from where he lured her unsuspecting victim via her own sister’s phone.

Police sources further say he sexually abused the teenage girl countless times and demanded GH¢15,000 from the parents who negotiated for a reduction to GH¢5,000 for her release.

Spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo said;

“When the victim came, she was interviewed and she mentioned that she was defiled.

A medical form has been issued to the victim to go to hospital whilst we wait for the report and continue with investigations”.
