RELATIONSHIP WRECKERS USING THE MEDIA AS MARRIAGE COUNSELLING CENTRES

It is always right for one never to poke his nose in the affairs of people for he who keepeth his mouth, keepeth his life but since every liar can presumably be a thief and a thief be a liar, it will be inappropriate for one to desist from spewing the truth. The crab never complains of headache because it has no head therefore no amount of pain killers will be of usage to it. Not only do I find them irritating, but also can’t envisage why most radio and TV platforms are used as marriage counselling centers to advise listeners and viewers on how to place their relationships in checks , solve persistent problems and offer free marital tips on marriages and relationships which they either have little or no ideas about.

Tune in to Citi FM 97.3, Adom FM, Hitz FM, TV3, Viasat 1 TV and many other radio and television stations and the crescendo at which perceived experts of relationships seem to be providing alternatives and solutions to relationship and marital problems are whamming. Often times these so-called relationship or marital experts in “counselling cloaks” either base their discussions on letters or emails sent from one personality who is presumably experiencing some despondencies. Without making further checks, worthy airtime is wasted to discuss and provide solutions to issues which have been brought before the radio and TV marital law courts for hearing. In no chronological order, I enlist the worst culprits of these acts:

REV. COUNSELOR CYRIL GEORGE LUTTERODT

In as much as he might think he is salvaging most marriages and relationships from further deterioration with his biblical and real life approaches , his methodologies might be effective but not always right. From TV Africa, Hitz FM, Radio Gold and other numerous platforms he had been invited on as either a counsellor or a pundit, Rev. Counselor Cyril George Lutterodt ends up causing cracks in relationships and marriages rather than repair them. From sex talks to preparations for marriages, counsellor Lutterodt makes a mockery of himself anytime he speaks. In March 2014, on STANPOINT, a program hosted by Gifty Anti he stated ““if you can’t feed yourself three times and add snack to it, you are not qualified to add somebody to your life “? This is a risible comment from the Rev. What makes him perceive marriage to be the overload and duty of the masculine? What also makes the Rev think his assertions are of any interest to dwellers in the slums? No wonder a survey conducted indicated he only has a nanosecond of listenership.

From dressing to impress, winning a man’s heart, jealousy and many more, the panel members or pundits who throng the studios of citi FM 97.3 on Thursdays for the sister-sister relationship talk show usually comprising of Rama, Sandra, and the windbag Rosina, make their relationship “coaching” seem its either you compulsorily listen to them or your relationship might not stand the test of time. Assuming without admitting that they have the pedigree when it comes to providing the best of relationship advice, why don’t they channel their time, energy and resources towards the host who have been single for some time now? With all apologies, what concerns the bird with toothbrush and how can a married man seek an advice from the pope who has no marital experience due to his celibacy status? A bubble need to be busted one day

Had it been in the late nineties or the early two thousands, I would have agreed to a point that the late night start of odo ohumaso was appropriate for marital radio discusses but with the proliferation of applications, who watches the watchman? Who guides the child from listening to a talk show packed with moaning and groaning and X-rated comments? Why are most of her solutions to marital issues directed at protecting and favoring the feminine gender?
