Revealing:Mr Eazi Is Helping Upcoming Artists And Creatives Grow; He Deserves A Lot Of Credit

Mr Eazi

Frankly, I’m impressed by how far Mr Eazi has come in his music career. Only a handful of artists in the world are able to succeed in their crafts as he has. Oluwatosin Ajibade has risen from a party promoter in Ghana to become one of the biggest Afrobeats acts in the world. He has held shows all around Europe, USA, Africa, and performed at numerous international festivals including Coachella. He’s a global pop star and is acknowledged in the international space.

Starting his musical journey from Ghana where he recorded Bankulize, he moved down to Lagos where he started an e-commerce business before shifting his focus fully back to music. He recorded a mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol 1 – Accra To Lagos which had hit songs like Leg OverBusinessDetty Yourself. He accrued a strong following in Nigeria which led him to organize a huge concert which saw a massive turnout of fans and music lovers.

Eazi would later move camp to the UK where he spread the gospel of Afrobeats. He quickly penetrated into the market and solidified forces with various UK acts. He collaborated with different artists including Maleek BerryGiggsMo-TLady LeshurrJulz, and more, establishing dominance in the music industry as an Afrobeats act. He’s seemingly a keen learner who is accumulating information and knowledge and duly applying it where it’s due.

His international acclaim shot up the sky when he released his mixtape Life Is Eazi, Vol 2 – Lagos to London which was practically about his voyage from Lagos to London where he was swiftly gaining grounds. He has his own genre which he describes as Banku music (a fusion sound he describes as a mixture of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and patterns). He continues to aim high and is looking to expand his base beyond barriers.

Mr Eazi

As much as all of these things are commendable, there’s something about Mr Eazi that I find incredibly amazing. Not only is he facilitating the growth of Afrobeats, but he’s also actively investing in upcoming artists by giving them platforms to nurture their talent. He launched an initiative Empawa which was aimed at discovering and supporting fledgling acts. About 100 artists from 7 countries have benefitted from the platform so far, providing resources for the artists to shoot music videos.

Mr Eazi doesn’t charge Nigerian artists for features. Eazi claimed that he has never collected money from any African musician to feature in a song. He has worked with many acts like Lady DonliFamous BobsonDJ CuppyEfyaMayorkunKing Promise, and others. He has funded music videos for various acts and is helping them understand the ropes of the music business.

Mr Eazi

The Surrender hitmaker took to his Twitter page yesterday to make a major announcement. According to the announcement, CBN and Bankers Committee will make loans accessible to Nigerian creatives. Eazi is doing what no Nigerian artist has ever been able to achieve while killing performances in the USA. Kudos to the pioneer of Banku music for putting the young ones on.

We need to be more appreciative of Mr Eazi. He is Afrobeats golden boy and is making sure to put Africa on the map.
