Roadmap to Funke Akindele’s May 26th wedding
Funke Akindele’s much talked about engagement ceremony is billed to hold next week Saturday (May 26) in Lagos-Nigeria, amid pomp and pageantry.
Already preparation is in top gear as the actress who has starred in several movies, produced several blockbusters, including the “Return of Jenifa” braces up to play host to friends, colleagues in the movie industry and well-wishers who will be thronging the event venue to be part of history.
However, those in the know claimed that Akindele’s heartthrob is married with kids. Debunking this rumor early in the week, a close friend of the award winning actress said that Funke’s beau, Alhaji Kehinde Oloyede Al-Mahroof, is divorced.
According to her, “they started dating about a year ago and Funke did not meet any woman in his home.” Overwhelmed by the news of her wedding, some of Funke’s fans have gone online to awash her with encomiums, while very few others faulted her decision to settle for a second wife. Some of the comments posted online read thus;
“Congratulations Funke,God will bless the union with wonderful children…I’m happy for her. She really deserves to be happy. At 34, I think she has endured enough. I wish her happy married life.”
Meanwhile, in a statement by Funke’s publicist, the University of Lagos Law graduate’s traditional wedding ceremony will take place next Saturday in Lagos. The statement said the union will be solemnized in December.
Funke’s preparations for her traditional marriage remains very private but open to very few friends and colleagues of the bride-to-be. But the details swirled around when a visibly excited Funke sent BlackBerry messages to some of her friends and associates to keep the May 26 open for her as she will be getting married.
“We want to inform you officially that your darling actress will be getting married in December with the introduction ceremony taking place on May 26. We won’t be giving more details now until the wedding in December. The engagement ceremony is for few friends and family members,” Funke’s publicist disclosed.
The “Omo Ghetto” movie producer’s groom is said to be into real estate business. They were said to have been dating for quite a while and only just decided to formalize their relationship.
